Les vieux merlots de quatre-vingts ans du plateau des Brauzes, première terrasse de graves argileuses face à l'estuaire, jouent une part majeure dans le velours profond et si singulier de Château Palmer. En 2025, le grand vin se montre spectaculaire, tout en volupté. Aux côtés de 2009, 2010, 2015 et 2016, il entre au panthéon des grands Palmer.

Alter Ego a été lancé avec le millésime 1998, fruit d’une réflexion pour produire une autre facette de Palmer pour un vin qui s’exprime sans attendre mais qui possède le tanin de velours de son aîné, son élégance et ce petit quelque chose d’inimitable qui signe le goût Palmer.
