Au XVIIIè siècle, Le Château La Gurgue appartint d’abord au prieuré de la paroisse de Margaux, qui détenait, cultivait et vinifiait les plus belles parcelles de la région margalaise. Le domaine du Château La Gurgue, très représentatif de la beauté des terroirs de Margaux, sera ensuite vendu durant la Révolution française.
S’en suivront ensuite la lutte des maires pour la municipalité de Margaux et ainsi deux maires, Monsieur Lanoire et Monsieur Lavandier, deviendront successivement les propriétaires du Château La Gurgue.
