Respectful of the terroir inherited from their ancestors, the current owners produce a wine of great straightforwardness, with a classic, fruity and fresh style. Clos René is remarkable for the consistency of its vintages.
Located on the western slope of the Pomerol plateau, its soil is made up of ancient Quaternary gravel and sand resting on a subsoil of iron crasse. Clos René covers 16 hectares. The vineyard has an average age of 45 years. It is planted with 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc (Bouchet) and 10% Malbec. The vines are managed in the traditional way, with reasoned pest control. The harvest is done by hand. HVE level 4 certification.
Alcohol, yield and vine age are those of the 2025 vintage; they vary from year to year. Only the area above stays stable from one vintage to the next.
