The name La Conseillante appeared 300 years ago, when the influential Libourne merchant Catherine Conseillan acquired the property and bequeathed to the estate a feminine version of her family name: la Conseillante. Nicknamed "the iron lady", she undertook renovation work on the property and increased the vineyard's area. The vines now cover 12 hectares. Five generations later, the mosaic of plots remains unchanged.
The pattern of plots making up the property's 12 hectares, unchanged since 1871, allows La Conseillante to maintain its exceptional character. An average density of six thousand vines per hectare, constant attention and care adapted to the cultivation of the vine — the only guarantees of impeccable vine health — are a reminder that without quality fruit, wine is nothing. The terroir is composed of 60% grey clay and 40% sandy gravel, resting on red clay (crasse de fer).
Alcohol, yield and vine age are those of the 2025 vintage; they vary from year to year. Only the area above stays stable from one vintage to the next.
