Located in the heart of Saint-Estèphe, Château Laffitte Carcasset is among the oldest estates in the appellation. The earliest traces of its vineyard date back to 1759, at the place known as “Le Carcasset,” before its inscription on the Belleyme map in 1767.
In 1781, the estate was acquired by Jean Laffitte, a barrister at the court and prosecutor to King Louis XVI in Bordeaux. He gave his name to the property, which would successively become “Château Laffitte-Saint-Estèphe,” then Laffitte Carcasset. Over the generations, several families have succeeded one another at its head, contributing to the vineyard’s development.
Set in the heart of the appellation and its Grands Crus Classés, the vineyard nestles on the gravel plateau, close to the Gironde estuary. Cabernet and Merlot enjoy an ideal climate and produce wines of great aromatic expression, in the purest Saint-Estèphe style. Soil of Garonne gravels, clay-limestone subsoil.
Alcohol, yield and vine age are those of the 2023 vintage; they vary from year to year. Only the area above stays stable from one vintage to the next.
