The wine

Château Cruzeau came into being in the 16th century, at the instigation of Amanieu de Labat, jurat of Libourne. Even then, vines surrounded the estate, as the Belleyme map of the 18th century attests. Here, the land and wine have always been bound together.

But the family history truly begins at the start of the 20th century.

Jean-Baptiste Luquot, a native of Corrèze, left his homeland with his wife Marie Escure to settle in the Gironde in 1905. First a farmer, then a pedlar, he became a fine-wine merchant. Driven by a quiet but determined ambition, he acquired Château Cruzeau on 9 December 1907.

A founding act that marked the beginning of a family venture still alive today.
