The creamy character of the attack announces a dense and powerful wine, carried by velvety tannins which offer beautiful vigor and are based on a structuring acidity guaranteeing harmony in a context nevertheless marked by power. Winemaking
Fermentation of whole berry grapes in 51 stainless steel, wood and concrete vats, thermoregulated, with capacities designed for plot selections, extraction by pump-over, vatting for 20 to 25 days.
Ageing
25% new barrels - 75% barrels of 1 and 2 wines - 12 months of ageing.
Terroir
The vineyard of Château Poujeaux extends in a single block to the north-east of Moulis, on the gravel rises of Grand-Poujeaux. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot take the lion's share of the property's plantings, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc accounting for only 10% of the vines. Plot-by-plot management of this fine terroir makes it possible to respect the personality of each parcel and each variety, and gives Château Poujeaux its unique character.
