Tasting
The Merlots are magnificent, but it is the Cabernet Sauvignons that dominate, reaching a new record for Lagrange at 86% of this blend. They bring together density, freshness and length, the signature of the very greatest Médoc vintages. Notes of blackcurrant, morello cherry and licorice stand out. The 12% Merlot, conversely, represents the smallest proportion ever in a wine from the estate. 2% Petit Verdot rounds out the mid-palate with aromas of pear and pepper. A substantial selection is made once again this year, with only 40% of Château Lagrange going into this exceptional vintage. The undeniable quality of this 2022 vintage matches the low yield, slightly down on the previous year. Everything is in place in this wine; nothing overreaches, like a dense, velvety, vibrant sphere: absolute harmony.

Terroir
Lying entirely within the commune of Saint-Julien, the vineyard of Château Lagrange covers 108 ha of red-grape vines in a single block planted on two gravel rises running north-south. The estate has a clay-limestone subsoil and a silica-gravel soil, in a temperate oceanic climate.
