The terroir of Clos du Marquis is made up of two adjoining parts. The first includes vines within the great Clos de Las Cases, vines that produce the wine Château Léoville Las Cases. The second lies outside the great Clos and is part of the Saint-Julien appellation terroirs. The terroir of Clos du Marquis therefore shares the characteristics of the great wines of Saint-Julien, namely a sea of pebbles on the surface and a subsoil made up of gravel, sand and clay.
