The 2010 vintage in Margaux
Vintage benchmark: 99/100 (appellation benchmark, not a score for this wine)
Vintage character: A dry summer and cool nights concentrated small berries: a benchmark vintage, with dense tannins and a thirty-year aging potential.
Overall reading of the year’s season across Margaux. An estate can depart from it sharply, in frost or hail years, where two neighbours did not make the same vintage. What this particular wine actually gave is on its technical sheet and in the scores above.
Tasting
On the nose, aromas of red berries and tobacco dominate. On the palate, the wine is full but with finesse. We notice a delicate and velvety fruit with aromas of black cherries. The finish is fine and slightly woody.

Winemaking
The Château has opted for a wooden vat, with filling of the vats by gravity. In 2008, the property was equipped with truncated conical concrete tanks. With small capacities, these vats allow the best plots to be isolated and vinified separately. The wine will be aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, half of which are renewed each year.
Ageing
100% French oak barrels (fine grain and medium toast) Age of barrels 30% new oak Duration of ageing 12 - 15 months
Terroir
These are the terroirs of Margaux at their highest point, and one of the highest gravel rises in the Médoc. The light and sunshine that bathe the vines protect them from late spring frosts. A stream acting as natural drainage separates the two rises. From it the vine draws the freshness essential to its development, sheltered from excess water as much as from drought.
