Tasting
The color is a deep, dark cherry red, enhanced with garnet highlights. The nose, fine and complex, reveals aromas of black fruits of remarkable maturity. Allowed to aerate, the wine exudes aromas of blackcurrant and anise, combined with notes of graphite and a subtle hint of blond tobacco. On the palate, the attack is both suave and fleshy, revealing tannins of great precision which accompany a rise in power of flavors, in a harmonious and succulent balance. The finesse of the aromas reveals menthol, mineral and smoky nuances. The finish, complete and of exceptional length, expresses all the nobility of Mouton’s Cabernet Sauvignon.

Terroir
Château Mouton Rothschild has 84 hectares of vines in Pauillac, planted with the varieties typical of the region: Cabernet Sauvignon (80%), Merlot (16%), Cabernet Franc (3%) and Petit Verdot (1%). This premier cru enjoys exceptional natural conditions, both in the quality of its soils and in their exposure and sunshine. The Château brings together all the conditions for an exceptional terroir: a rise of nearly 8 m of dense, poor Garonne gravels resting on a marl-limestone base shot through with traces of iron oxide.
