Tasting
Very deep and shiny black color. First discreet nose before the explosion of black fruits upon aeration. A superb assortment of very ripe fruits such as blackberry, sun-drenched bigarreau, all complemented by notes of chocolate and mocha. Great aromatic complexity and lots of finesse. The attack on the palate is fresh and soft. All the power and structure is balanced by the roundness, fat, liveliness and elegance of the aromas. Behind the velvet of this setting, the fullness of the wine is immediately perceived, as well as its fine and tight tannic structure, characteristic of the 2010 vintage. We find black fruits, spices and the finish is incredibly long. Château Lascombes 2010 is exemplary of complexity, power and elegance.

Winemaking
Light crushing at the time of vatting. Cold pre-fermentation maceration lasting approximately 10 days at a temperature of 6-8°C. Classic vinification with light daily pump-over Long fermentation: 30 to 35 days
Ageing
Malolactic fermentations in barrels. Aged 90% in new barrels.
Terroir
The fragmented layout of the property offers an interesting diversity of soils, with three main types of terroir: clay-limestone and clay-gravel soils suited to Merlot, clay-gravel and gravel soils for Cabernet Sauvignon, and gravel for Petit Verdot. A soil survey has been carried out parcel by parcel. At once firm and unctuous, this is a wine of great character and great ageing potential, born to span decades. The generous proportion of Merlot in the blend also makes it very enjoyable in its early years.
