Tasting
The Haut-Batailley 2008 presents a beautiful, brilliant, intense garnet color. It reveals delicious and smooth aromas of blackcurrant mixed with those of black cherries and roasted nuts. On the palate, the tannins are silky, very ripe and very seductive. We find blackcurrant enhanced with a touch of liquorice. This wine already offers a very nice style and a nice balance which will require a little patience before expressing all its charm.

In French oak barrels (fine grain) including 55% new oak for 16 to 18 months depending on the vintage.
Terroir
The distinctive character of the Haut-Batailley terroir comes from its situation in the south of the Pauillac appellation, on the border with Saint-Julien. The influence of this neighbouring appellation is felt in the cru, where one finds the grace, charm and delicacy that stand for a femininity often less marked in the wines of Pauillac. This harmonious complexity gives the wine character and a great deal of personality.
