The 2018 vintage in Tokaj
Vintage benchmark: 92/100 (appellation benchmark, not a score for this wine)
Vintage character: A hot summer and a dry autumn gave sun-drenched, rich wines, with ample sweetness.
Overall reading of the year’s season across Tokaj. An estate can depart from it sharply, in frost or hail years, where two neighbours did not make the same vintage. What this particular wine actually gave is on its technical sheet and in the scores above.

- 100 % Furmint
Shares for this vintage, as recorded on the 2018 technical sheet. The vineyard itself is planted with furmint, zeta, harslevelu — a vintage blend departs from the area under vine as the year dictates.

Food pairings

Terroir
Recognised as one of the three most remarkable sites for the production of Aszú wines in Tokaj, the Disznókő estate covers 104 hectares in a single block. Our south- and south-west-facing slopes, planted with the local varieties Furmint, Hárslevelű and Zéta, overlook the plain. Morning mists and warm autumn breezes ensure optimal conditions for the appearance of noble rot. Botrytis develops, concentrating the natural sugars, aromas and acids in the grapes. Our wines owe their verve to the mineral-rich volcanic ground, to rhyolitic tuff and to clay soils.
