Bottle of Château Potensac 2011

The 2011 vintage in Médoc

Vintage character: A scorching spring followed by a wet August turned the seasons upside down: classic wines, with a more measured ageing span but true to type.

Overall reading of the year’s season across Médoc. An estate can depart from it sharply, in frost or hail years, where two neighbours did not make the same vintage. What this particular wine actually gave is on its technical sheet and in the scores above.

Blend of the 2011 vintage

  • 52 % Merlot
  • 34 % Cabernet-sauvignon
  • 14 % Cabernet franc

Shares for this vintage, as recorded on the 2011 technical sheet. The vineyard itself is planted with 48 % merlot, 36 % cabernet sauvignon, 16 % cabernet franc — a vintage blend departs from the area under vine as the year dictates.

Terroir
