The 2019 vintage in Margaux
Vintage benchmark: 96/100 (appellation benchmark, not a score for this wine)
Vintage character: A hot end of summer after a rainy spring gave wines that hold ripeness and freshness together; the cabernets shine here.
Overall reading of the year’s season across Margaux. An estate can depart from it sharply, in frost or hail years, where two neighbours did not make the same vintage. What this particular wine actually gave is on its technical sheet and in the scores above.
Tasting
The 1762 vintage is a deep color with purple reflections. Rich bouquet, with floral notes of blackberry, dark chocolate, bitter orange and licorice. The palate is full, round and creamy. We find the flavors of small black fruits on a mocha finish.

Ageing
12 months in French oak barrels and concrete vats
Terroir
40 ha of deep gravel typical of Margaux, with pockets of clay deeper down, consisting of three types of terroir: peyrosols (gravel and pebbles), luvisols (thick sand and gravel soil with clay particles), podzosols (leached soil that contribute to the wines' complexity).
